Dental implants have gained a lot of attention and popularity in recent years. Dental implants are screw shaped artificial tooth roots (usually made from titanium) that are placed into a patient’s jaw bone by a dentist or dental specialist to replace a missing tooth or multiple missing teeth. After a period of healing, these artificial tooth roots become the support for various dental restorations like crowns, bridges and even dentures. While not every patient may be a good candidate for dental implants, they’ve quickly become the new gold standard for replacing missing teeth in many patients.
For an implant to be needed by a patient, a tooth must first be removed (extracted) or already missing. The doctors at Cudahy Dental are well versed in minimally traumatic tooth extractions. Our doctors are well aware this can be an anxiety inducing and stressful procedure for many. We work closely with each patient to maximize their comfort during the procedure and have the ability to provide nitrous oxide and oral sedation depending on the specific patient’s needs.
We also work closely with many superb oral and maxillofacial surgeons and periodontists locally who can help provide our patients care when IV sedation is desired or when more complex surgical procedures are necessary.
